- 1965 - To boost Gamma Garments' sales, Emily Nugent holds a disastrous fashion show at the Mission of Glad Tidings.
- 1969 - Elsie Tanner's court case on a charge of shoplifting from Miami Modes begins.
- 1975 - Jerry Booth dies suddenly of a heart attack. Maxine Heavey born.
- 1982 - Mavis Riley and fellow English Literature student Victor Pendlebury decide to enter a radio short story competition.
- 1989 - Alan Bradley's campaign of intimidation against Rita Fairclough continues when he breaks into No.7 but no one believes her.
- 1993 - Andy McDonald discovers his fiancée Amy Nelson is staying in Trinidad and not coming back to Britain.
- 1995 - Daniel Osbourne is christened. Reg Holdsworth is mistakenly identified in a police parade as the "Red Rec flasher".
- 1997 - Alan McKenna walks out on wife-to-be Fiona Middleton after she admits to sleeping with Jim McDonald.
- 1999 - Nita Desai, left on her own to manage the corner shop when brother Vikram goes to Brighton with Steve McDonald, is delighted when cousin Dev Alahan comes up from Birmingham to help her.
