30th January - Nick Tilsley marries Leanne Battersby.
16th February - Morgan Middleton is born.
18th March - Babs Fanshawe, a client of Ken Barlow when he is working as an escort, dies suddenly in the toilet of the restaurant they are eating in.
17th April - Shannon Tattersall dies from meningitis.
25th May - Elsie Seddon dies after suffering a stroke.
9th October - Anne Malone tries to set up Spider Nugent on a charge of criminal damage by spraying anti-freeze on goods in the freezer storeroom at Freshco's but finds herself locked in the room for the night with no one there to come to her aid.
18th November - Des Barnes and Tony Horrocks are taken to hospital after being beaten up by drug dealers who were after Tony. Des suffers a massive heart attack and dies.
25th December - Judy Mallett gives birth to twins Billy and Becky.
Craig Tinker is born.
