• 8th January - Gail Platt and Joe McIntyre are married.
• 8th February - Joe McIntyre drowns at the Lake District after an attempt to fake his own death goes wrong.
• 12th March - Simon Barlow disappears in Blackpool while on an outing with grandfather George Wilson and his wife Eve. He later manages to find his own way home.
• 11th April - The first lesbian kiss between Sophie Webster and Sian Powers takes place.
• 19th April - Tyrone and Molly Dobbs are involved in a massive car crash by Kevin Webster's failure to fix the brakes.
• 3rd May - Blanche Hunt dies in Portugal.
• 10th May - Blanche Hunt is laid to rest, after passing away in Portugal. Her funeral also marks the return of granddaughter Tracy Barlow.
• 9th June - Fugitive Tony Gordon is killed in an explosion ending the siege at Underworld, hostage Carla Connor escapes the factory in time before it explodes out on to the Street, killing Tony instantly as the residents watch in horror.
• 30th July - Colin Fishwick dies suddenly during a heated argument with John Stape and Charlotte Hoyle. They dispose of his body in Underworld.
• 27th September - After being released from hopsital following a suicide attempt, Natasha Blakeman tells Nick Tilsley, Leanne Battersby and the factory girls exactly what she thinks of them before exposing to a packed medical centre that Gail McIntyre looked into her medical files and gets her sacked before leaving Weatherfield for good.
• 15th October - David Platt blacks out while driving Audrey Roberts's car and hits Graeme Proctor.
• 7th November - Jack Duckworth dies.
• 9th December - A gas explosion rips through The Joinery and a tram flies off the viaduct above killing Molly Dobbs, Ashley Peacock and an unnamed Taxi Driver. John Stape kills Charlotte Hoyle.
• 24th December - Tracy Barlow is released on bail pending a retrial.
• Before the year is out, Dennis Tanner ends up homeless after falling on hard times.

Real life eventsEdit

• This year is the 50th anniversary of when Coronation Street first aired.
• 31st May - The first Coronation Street episode to be filmed in high definition is screened, along with a new title sequence and new arrangement of the theme tune.
• 2nd June - Coronation Street is taken off air for several days due to a siege storyline coinciding with a real life mass shooting in Cumbria. The series returns on 7th June with additional slots created to accommodate the backlog of episodes.
