- 1964 - Stan Ogden is fixed up with his first match in his new career as a professional wrestler.
- 1968 - Elsie Tanner is told by the police that Steve was found dead at the foot of the stairs in his flat. She realises that they suspect murder was involved and that she is a suspect.
- 1974 - Blanche Hunt meets Ray Langton for the first time and promptly slaps his face for upsetting daughter Deirdre.
- 2001 - Dev Alahan meets Geena Gregory's parents but her mother Gill makes it clear that she doesn't approve of the relationship because Dev is Asian.
- 2002 - Peter Barlow begins an affair with Lucy Richards.
- 2005 - A guilt-ridden Violet Wilson confesses to boyfriend Jason Grimshaw that she kissed Charlie Stubbs.
- 2007 - Tyrone Dobbs is accused of stealing money from Jack Duckworth when grandson Paul Clayton is the real culprit.
- 2011 - Bill Webster suffers a heart attack. An estranged Kevin and Sally Webster sleep together.
- 2015 - Tyrone and Fiz Stape are told that Hope Stape has a childhood cancer called neuroblastoma.
- 2020 - Having snatched his daughter Tianna Vickers to prevent his ex-partner Grace from moving abroad with her, Michael Bailey is told by the police that Tianna is not their child at all and Grace has been passing her off as theirs.

- 1961 - Grampian Television launched. Episode 84 is the first episode of Coronation Street to be broadcast there on Monday 2nd October.
- 1971 - Ten years after their launch, Grampian begins colour broadcasts. The first episode of Coronation Street they transmit in colour is Episode 1118 on Monday 4th October.
- 1974 - Maggie Jones plays Blanche Hunt for the first time following the suicide of Patricia Cutts, the previous actress to play the role on 6th September.
- 1989 - Nicola Thorp (Nicola Rubinstein) born.
