Accrington is a town in Lancashire, England. It is where Amos, Joan, Jack, Jim, and Arthur Walker lived in the early 1900s. Jack, Jim, and Arthur eventually moved away, all eventually becoming publicans. Joan, whose granddaughter was named after her, also moved away after Amos' death, moving to Barnsley where she died in April 1962.
In 1985, the Claytons left 11 Coronation Street and moved to Accrington in order to get away from the Duckworths after their son Terry got Andrea Clayton pregnant.
Accrington was the birthplace of two regular Coronation Street cast members: Vicky Entwistle (Janice Battersby) on 15th September 1968, and Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper) on 25th February 1970.
