Alan Davis designed 1997 consecutive episodes of episodes of Coronation Street from July 2006 to March 2014.

Due to the crediting conventions of the time, he was uncredited on the majority of the Friday broadcast episodes from Episode 6743 (1st February 2008) to Episode 7427 (17th September 2010). For his final five episodes, he was credited as the "Move team" designer to reflect his major work on the transfer of production from the Quay Street studios to the MediaCity studios at the end of 2013 while his successor, Rosie Mullins-Hoyle was credited as the "Acting" designer although she also had a major hand in the new site.

During his time on the programme, he had to handle the major design work for the tram crash in December 2010 which involved the partial destruction and rebuild of elements of the 1982 Outdoor Set.

He also worked on Behind the Bike Sheds, My Husband and I (starring Mollie Sugden and William Moore), 3-2-1, Home to Roost, Haggard, The Gingerbread Girl, Stalag Luft, Micawber, Fat Friends, A Touch of Frost and The Chase.

He is currently head of production design at ITV.
