Alec Mango (16th March 1911 - 1st November 1989) appeared in Coronation Street in May 1966 as mission preacher Mr Howard.
His television career started before the Second World War at Alexandra Palace with Telecrime, the world's first television police and crime series and he later went on to appear in various plays after the service resumed in 1946. He also appeared in series such as The Adventures of Robin Hood, Armchair Theatre, The Third Man, Danger Man, The Saint, The Avengers, Z Cars and Upstairs, Downstairs.
Film roles include Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. He also appeared in various radio plays over the years including a number of wartime plays on the Home Service.
