Alice Nelson (née Marshall) was Ivy Tilsley's mother. Alice and husband Jim were in attendance at grandson Brian Tilsley's wedding to Gail Potter at St. Boniface Catholic Church in November 1979 and the reception at the Rovers. Alice didn't say much but like Ivy she was religious and already knew the priest Father Harris from his work within the parish.
In 1987, Ivy told Vera Duckworth's mother Amy Burton that Alice wouldn't let birds into the house, not even a Christmas turkey.
In 1989, Ivy told Betty Turpin that Alice believed the wartime blackout was the reason why Phyllis Pearce and her friends had so many flings, and that "they wouldn't 'ave 'ad 'alf as many fellas if t'streelamps were on".
Relaying details of her conversation with a Medium at Weatherfield Spiritualist Church in September 1990, Ivy told Bet Gilroy that both of her parents were deceased.
