Arthur Pentelow (14th February, 1924 - 6th August, 1991) appeared on Coronation Street in two separate roles, driving instructor Mr. Hopwood in 1965, then Hilda Ogden's gentleman friend, park keeper George Greenwood from 1968 to 1971. In 1972, he formed part of the original cast of Emmerdale Farm, continuing in his role of Henry Wilks for over eighteen years until his death.
His career took off after attending Bradford Drama School. He appeared in repertory at the Bristol Old Vic, Northampton and Birmingham and appeared in London's West End with Orson Welles in Othello. His other television roles included Z Cars and The Troubleshooters while his film roles included The Peace Game and Charlie Bubbles.
