The Barrister worked on Jerry Booth's divorce case in January 1968, questioning Jerry at length about his grounds for divorcing Myra. Jerry and Myra had married in October 1963 but had only been together for a year.
Nervous in the dock, Jerry had to ask the barrister to repeat a few of the questions. Among the topics covered were Myra's extravagant spending, her unwillingness to cook for Jerry, her move into a separate bedroom after the death of their newborn daughter, their rows about Jerry not earning enough and being beholden to Myra's father, Jerry leaving Myra and his failed attempt at a reconciliation. Having heard all the evidence, the judge granted Jerry his Decree Nisi.
