Barry Linehan (born 23rd September 1925 in Dublin, died 8th June 1996) appeared in Coronation Street in July 1966 as a Coach Driver who took the menfolk of the Street to Liverpool to see a World Cup qualifier.
From 1958 to 1960, Linehan lived in Auckland, New Zealand. He appeared in the radio comedy series Radio Roadhouse with actress Noeline Pritchard. Before he returned to UK he was lead in the musical comedy revue Linehan at Large which toured the country.
This was but one role in an extensive career in films and television for some forty years which saw him appear in almost every major series. Other work for Granada Television included parts in The Man in Room 17, The Fellows, City 68 and the controversial crime series Big Breadwinner Hog. For the BBC he played roles in Z Cars, Softly, Softly and Suspense while in the field of cult television he had parts in The Andromeda Breakthrough, The Avengers, Danger Man and The Tomorrow People.
