Manchester-based actor and director Benedict Power first appeared on Coronation Street in October 1999 as Tufty, an eco-friend of Spider Nugent. He returned to the programme in October 2003 as a Court Security Guard who initially intercepted Karen McDonald when she set off alarms in the building, in an attempt to prevent her divorce papers being processed that day.
Also being credited for minor roles in Spooks:Code 9, Blue Murder, Paradox and Emmerdale, Power recently created a new, devised work, Spring Reign, in association with "House of Orphans". The piece was based on international reporting of 21st century conflicts and was developed and performed in Manchester during 2014.
