Bernard Atha (born 27th August 1928 in Leeds) appeared in two roles in Coronation Street: in September 1973 as Conrad Farmer whose wife was rescued from suicide by Len Fairclough, and as the registrar who married Derek Wilton and Mavis Riley in November 1988.

He also appeared in Doomwatch, Crown Court, Sam, Days of Hope, Play for Today, Juliet Bravo, Strike: The Birth of Solidarity, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Hallelujah!, The Beiderbecke Affair, All Creatures Great and Small, Last of the Summer Wine and Emmerdale Farm.

Film roles include Kes, Family Life and It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet.

He originally trained as a ballet dancer and barrister and served as a councillor in Leeds from 1957 to 2014. He was Lord Mayor of the city for one term from May 2000 and has served on the board of the Leeds Grand Theatre as well as being instrumental in the building of the West Yorkshire Playhouse in 1974.
