Bert Palmer (born 22nd April 1900 in Easingwold, Yorkshire as "Herbert Newell Palmer", died 15th January 1980 in Blackpool) played two parts on Coronation Street: Mr Hartley in 1965 and Walter Biddulph in 1973.

His other credits include The Avengers, No Hiding Place, The Plane Makers, Armchair Theatre, Dixon of Dock Green, Nearest and Dearest, Please Sir!, The Morecambe & Wise Show, Follyfoot, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?, I Didn't Know You Cared, Emmerdale Farm, Z Cars and the first episode of the Leonard Swindley spin-off Turn out the Lights in 1967.

Bert was married to Coronation Street actress Lynne Carol (Martha Longhurst) for forty-six years.
