Bert Palmer (born 22nd April 1900 in Easingwold, Yorkshire as "Herbert Newell Palmer", died 15th January 1980 in Blackpool) played three parts on Coronation Street:

His other credits include A Kind of Loving, Z Cars, The Avengers, Emergency-Ward 10, No Hiding Place, The Plane Makers, Armchair Theatre, Dixon of Dock Green, Nearest and Dearest, Please Sir!, The Morecambe & Wise Show, Follyfoot, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?, I Didn't Know You Cared, Emmerdale Farm and the first episode of the Leonard Swindley spin-off Turn out the Lights in 1967.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Mother Goose at the Adelphi Theatre in Slough and Tons of Money at the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton.

Under the name of Newell Palmer, he was also a theatrical designer and worked with Arthur Leslie in a production of his play Welcome Little Stranger for the Jack Rose Repertory Players in Blackpool in 1957.

Bert was married to Coronation Street actress Lynne Carol (Martha Longhurst) for forty-six years.
