Berwick Kaler (born 31st October 1946 in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear) appeared in Coronation Street in October 1985 as Police Constable Bob Peacock and then in the spin-off Coronation Street - The Feature Length Special (a.k.a. The QE2 Cruise) as the Padre.
His other roles include Sink or Swim, Boon, Casualty, Heartbeat and The Royal as well as regular roles in The New Statesman, Grafters and The Worst Witch.
He is best known for his role as the dame in the annual pantomime at the Theatre Royal in York which he has participated in since 1978 and which he now also writes and directs. Such is his popularity in this role that he has been awarded the Freedom of the City of York as well as an honorary degree from York University.
