Bettabuys was the name of the supermarket (introduced in 1989) which employed Reg Holdsworth, Curly Watts and Andy McDonald as part of management and had among the staff Vera Duckworth, Ivy Brennan, and Maureen Holdsworth.
The shop was in an undisclosed location, but it was close to Coronation Street.
The "Bettabuys" name came allegedly from the fact that a real branch in Eccles of the North of England supermarket chain Morrisons was used for filming the supermarket scenes and "Bettabuy" was the name of Morrisons' discount brand at the time.
