The unnamed Bingo Caller read out the numbers at a Blackpool hall when Minnie Caldwell was taken to the resort by Dave Smith as a birthday treat in September 1971. Although he wasn't happy to partake in what was for him a lesser form of gambling, Minnie did win a tea set.

Five years later, the caller was working in Weatherfield and was there on the night that Albert Tatlock and Hilda Ogden went to the hall in July 1976. An excited Hilda thought she'd won a line but the Checker went through the numbers with the Caller who confirmed that 58 hadn't been one of those he'd declared and the claim was false. Afterwards, Albert won a house and the £100 jackpot.
