I'll be honest, I don't share the fascination some people have for ratings. They just tell you what's popular. But hey, I had no internet access, some time on my hands and a full set of Corrie ratings data by year, so here's a nice companion piece to our excellent article on Viewing Figures, breaking down the programme's chart performances by month and year to shed some light on its highs and lows.
If you want to know where the viewing figures come from, the article above is where you want to go.
To help with comparison, the standard conversion ratio of 2.2 viewers to one home is used on episodes shown before 1st August 1977.

Although it's been less than four weeks since the last update, some real progress has been made on getting more episodes completed with accurate data and in that time the number of episodes without a cast on this site has dropped from 599 to 376! As before, the table below covers just the 1990s although a few updates have been done on episodes from other decades.

Whilst this confidence may end up proving misplaced, we're pretty certain that by the summer we'll have a cast list for each and every episode, then the task of verification to ensure total accuracy begins!--Jtomlin1uk 11:58, February 8, 2012 (UTC)

In line with the recent move towards blogging progress on stats that we have on this site, I thought I'd highlight for the first time where we are on episode page images. Our long-term intention (and goodness knows how we finally achieve this) is to have one screencap per episode on each of the episode pages and you might be surprised to know how much we've achieved towards this goal. As stated elsewhere, 7755 episodes of the programme have been shown in the first fifty-one years and we have images for 4597 of these pages, or 61.48% of them – and that's exact!!
For those who are interested, the breakdown for each year is as follows:

With the 1980s now complete and good progress being made on the 1990s, I thought it was time for an update on where we are with episodes with completed cast details.

So we're down to just 768 episodes that currently don't have a cast list. Just 22 episodes' details are missing from 1990 to 1993 where we don't have sufficient info (e.g. the Corrienet synopsis are too short or not detailed enough to be meaningful). For the record those 22 are as follows and if anyone can get hold of a tape of these and update the entries, we'd be very grateful:

Somewhat quicker than I thought, here's an update on the state of episode casts lists on this site from 1960 to 1999. The reason for the update is that I've just completed 1993 with what data is available at the moment and it seemed timely to show the decade totals:

Chris, a.k.a Notdoppler, suggested that I should write a blog about our constant efforts to have on this site a complete set of cast lists for all of the episodes. This sounded a good idea to advise of progress and problems, so here goes:
First some background: Stangely enough, it's not the 1960s or 1970s which give us most problems in this area but more recent decades. A few weeks after Coronation Street began in 1960, TV Times began publishing cast lists in the billings. Previous to that, they had just credited the writer and the main production staff. Fortunately, the casts started to appear in billings prior to Episode 12 (18th January 1961) (the last consecutive episode available on VHS) and because they published a seperate cast list for…

The first of five blog posts, giving our current stats on minor character articles for each decade.
Notes:- Main characters aren't included in the totals. This is for guest characters only.
- Each character is only counted once (in the year they first appeared), so for example Vera Lomax only counts towards 1960's totals even though she appeared in other years too. I may change this in future for a more accurate summation of each year but for now this is how I'm doing it.
- Articles completed (im) - what I mean by this is articles which don't have an infobox image but are otherwise complete. I've separated this and given a percentage because for most characters we can't get an image and I think it's unfair that these should be counted as incomplete…

I first started watching Coronation Street in 1992 and one of the first scenes I remember is Tommy Duckworth being born. And now he is an 18 year old rebel character in the show. My older brother used to watch Corrie and it got me hooked. I started becoming interested in the history of the show in 1995 when I was 13 and fondly remember the 35th anniversary celebrations in December 1995. Stan Ogden and Albert Tatlock are two of my fave characters of the past.
I have recently realised I have been to a few real life locations used for Corrie such as Blackpool (seen in various episodes over the years), Lake Windermere (seen in a 1969 ep), Oxford Street, London and outside Buck House (Both seen in a 1973 and 1995 episode) and near Salford which …

In September 1965, I was the wife of the Vicar of Carno, in deepest mid-Wales, the developing base at that time of the Laura Ashley empire. I was expecting very shortly the birth of my second child, and had been assured by Mrs Eunice Watkin, the local white witch, that the day of delivery would be the 27th - much to my chagrin as I was hoping for a fortnight earlier at least! On the 26th, a Sunday, the Church Warden and his wife rang and asked if we could do them an immense favour, and put up an unexpected visitor, whose sudden arrival posed complicated family difficulties. So we made up a bed and welcomed a rather stressed young person for the night.
Next morning she was duly collected and all was calm until suddenly my waters broke. Even …
