Party-goers in 1971
The Bonkers Club was an oddly-named up-market drinking establishment where Weatherfield County FC player Eddie Duncan met football journalist Peter Munro in November 1971. Within the confines of the quiet club, Munro broke the news to Eddie that he had written a piece questioning his fitness to play for the team and intended to publish it the next day.
A short time later, Eddie took girlfriend Irma Barlow to the club to meet his footballer friend Pancho Peters. Irma was all agog looking for famous people, not realising that she was sat next to possibly the most famous person there already.
