Brian Howe was from the television licencing office and drove round the streets of Weatherfield in his detector van, sending some of the residents into a panic. One who remained above it all was Annie Walker but in the end she was the only person he called on as she watched a local news programme. Annie graciously showed him her licence but as Mr Howe pointed out, it had expired on the last day of November 1975 and was therefore three months out of date.
