Brian McDermott (23rd July 1934 - 5th November 2003) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly as Cardiff man Steve Williams who turned up on the Street in September 1961 following a holiday romance with Sheila Birtles; and he returned to the programme between October and November 1981 as solicitor Roger Mulholland, representing Brian Tilsley when he was charged with illegal wounding after a robbery at Fourways Garage.

With a CV spanning over four decades, his other credits include roles in Starr and Company, No Hiding Place, Emergency-Ward 10, Softly Softly, Riptide, Z Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, Doctor Who, Minder, A Country Practice, Murder Call and Babylon 5.

On the big screen he appeared in the films Payroll, Craze, Priest of Love, Hoodwink, Crosstalk, With Prejudice, On the Run, Comrades, For Queen & Country, The Punisher, Sweet Talker, This Won't Hurt a Bit, Snide and Prejudice, Komodo, Zoe, Dirty Deeds, Inspector Gadget 2 and The Pact.
