Brian Park

Brian Park was the producer of Coronation Street from March 1997 to August 1998. He quickly developed a reputation for being an "axeman", after deciding to rid the Street of popular characters such as Percy Sugden and Derek Wilton due to falling ratings. He also introduced the controversial Battersby family to the programme, and oversaw the infamous storyline of Deirdre Rachid being sent to prison. As a further effort to shake things up, he decided to end the marriage of Kevin and Sally Webster after being told they were the most stable couple in the show.

Brian has also gone down in history for introducing Hayley Patterson to the Street, the first ever transsexual character in a British soap opera. After leaving the show, he set up Shed Productions, and has been Executive Producer on Bad Girls, Footballers' Wives and Rock Rivals.
