Bruce Jones was born "Ian Roy Jones" on 24th January, 1953 in Collyhurst, Manchester. He played Les Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street from 1997 until 2007. He has also been in Roughnecks, A Touch of Frost, and Heartbeat.
Before working as an actor, Bruce was a dairy worker. In October 1977, whilst working at his allotment, Bruce discovered the body of a prostitute that had been killed by the Yorkshire Ripper.
In 2009, he was one of five volunteers who were set to experience ten days and nights of indigent homelessness in London and Glasgow in a television reality mini-series Famous, Rich, and Homeless. Jones was caught on camera breaking down in tears, and even considered pulling out of the programme altogether.
In May 2010, Jones was made homeless after the bank repossessed his home in Cheshire, in order to pay off his large debts and in July 2011, his second home; a bungalow in North Wales was repossessed by the bank.
In 2015, it was reported that he was on benefits.
