Chris Collins was Kevin Webster's assistant at Coronation Street Garage from 1997 to 1998.
An ex-VSO man, Chris had relationships with Angie Freeman, Sally Webster and Samantha Failsworth and lived at 15a Coronation Street. When he decided to leave the area following his affair with Samantha, he asked Sally to come with him, but she chose to stay and save her marriage to Kevin instead.
Biography[]
Chris trained at CTI Motors in West Bromwich and got his City and Guilds. Before he worked at the garage he did VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas), working as a mechanic for an aid agency in Rwanda and Chad, but had to come home after he was shot in his right calf.

Despite only appearing for a year, the character of Chris made an impact on viewers. A few months after joining the programme in 1997, Matthew Marsden won the National Television Award for Most Popular Newcomer, voted for by the viewing public. Other nominees included Marsden's co-star Tina Hobley, who played Samantha Failsworth. Marsden soon decided to move on, and the character last appeared in Episode 4376 broadcast on 29th March 1998.
