Clarkie was a sneak-thief who, tempted by a stack of valuable copper piping stored in the Builder's Yard, got past Fury, the fierce Alsatian guard dog by throwing him a meaty bone and then jemmied the lock. Deirdre Hunt discovered that both the piping and the dog were missing when she turned up for work the next morning although the remains of the bone had been left behind.
