Cyril Appleton (born 29th July 1930 in Wigan, died 2nd July 2005, also in Wigan) appeared on Coronation Street in April 1978 as building contractor Jim Conran.
With an acting career spanning three decades, his other screen credits include roles in Misleading Cases, Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars, The Onedin Line, Barlow, Shoulder to Shoulder, Striker, All Creatures Great and Small, Blake's 7, Bleak House, Lovejoy, The Bill and McLibel!.
On stage, he appeared in numerous productions at Salisbury Playhouse including The School for Scandal, Alfie, Black Comedy, Fumed Oak, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, The Dock Brief, The Odd Couple, Rookery Nook, Candida, The Crucible, Look Back in Anger, The Constant Wife, King Lear, Of Cabbages and Kings and See How They Run.
