David Birrell appeared in Coronation Street in January 1988 as Barry Oldfield, a consultant employed by Mike Baldwin when he refitted Baldwin's Casuals to making curtains.
He's also appeared in The Bill, Heartbeat, Buried, Midsomer Murders and Heartbeat.
His stage roles include parts in Oh! What A Lovely War, The Man of Mode, Getting To The Foot Of The Mountain, Chicago, Grand Hotel, Spamalot, The Real Thing, Sweeney Todd, Ragtime, The Last Days of Troy, Journey's End and The Family Way. For several years in the mid-1990s he was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Work on Radio 4 includes The Making Of The English Landscape, The Falcon And The Hawk, Erebus and The Last Days of Troy.
