David Daker (born "Colin David Daker" on 29th September 1935 in Bilston, West Midlands) played two separate roles on Coronation Street: Basil Griffin between December 1968 and January 1969; and he returned to the programme as Rovers' relief manager Gordon Lewis making intermittent appearances between February 1981 and January 1985.

Probably best known for his roles as Sgt. Milne in Z Cars and as Harry Crawford in Boon, his other credits include Dixon of Dock Green, Villains, Doctor Who, Marked Personal, When the Boat Comes In, Dick Turpin, Minder, Juliet Bravo, Give us a Break, Crown Court, Moonfleet, Hallelujah!, Crown Prosecutor, Resort to Murder, The Bill, Doctors, Holby City and a role in the 1981 film Time Bandits.

On stage, he appeared in productions of She Stoops to Conquer, Still Life, Larger Than Life, Strike for Death, The Boy Friend, A Taste of Honey, Master of Arts, The Brides of March, The Shop at Sly Corner, Go Back for Murder, Pygmalion, The Bad Soldier Smith, The Walled Garden, Robinson Crusoe, The Black Queen, Bitter Sanctuary, Meet Me By Moonlight, The Rivals, A Streetcar Named Desire and Betzi for the Salisbury Playhouse. Other works include The Ghost Train, Peril at End House, Creditors, Plaza Suite, Prometheus Bound, A Pagan Place, The Zykovs, The Iceman Cometh, Privates on Parade and Saint Joan.
