David Lewis Davies (born 3rd April 1906 in Brynmawr, Wales; died June 1974 in Carmarthen, Wales) appeared on Coronation Street between December 1971 and January 1972 as Lt Commander Gerald Prince.
A towering 6ft 4 in stature, he joined Southend Borough Constabulary as a police officer in 1927, but was forced to medically retire in 1937 due to a duodenal ulcer and embarked on an acting career shortly thereafter.
A long list of television credits included roles in Family Affairs, Midshipman Barney, McCreary Moves In, Solo for Canary, Probation Officer, Flower of Evil, Richard the Lionheart, Compact and Moulded in Earth.
Film roles included The Mark of Cain, The Lavender Hill Mob, The 39 Steps, Tiger Bay, Ben-Hur and The Heroes of Telemark.
