David Garth (born John Basil Gal-Vine in Calcutta, India 15th April 1921, died 3rd May 1988) appeared in Coronation Street in two similar roles: an unnamed Barrister in January 1968 and barrister Frank Cotsen at the trial of Jerry Booth for assault in October 1971.

His long career included television appearances from the the post-war re-launch of the BBC Television service in 1946, quite often playing authoritarian roles in programmes such as BBC Sunday-Night Theatre, The Strange World of Planet X, Suspense, The Larkins, The Plane Makers, Emergency-Ward 10, The Saint, No Hiding Place, The Avengers, Doctor Who, The Mind of Mr. J.G. Reeder, Special Branch, Dixon of Dock Green, a regular role in General Hospital and To the Manor Born.

His film roles include parts in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace and A Month in the Country.

He was married to actress Geraldine Newman who herself appeared in Coronation Street in August 1967.
