Denmark is a Scandinavian country in Europe. Comprising its islands and landmasses within the continent itself, it also includes the Faroe Islands and Greenland as two autonomous constituent countries. A constitutional monarchy of some 5.7 million people, it has been rated as having one of the highest standards of living in the world and one of the highest rates of personal taxation to fund it.
Denmark has long had a reputation for its liberal attitudes and such was one of the first countries in the world to legalise pornography in 1969. Individuals from other countries would smuggle out the x-rated publications and one of them was newsagent Walter Biddulph from Rosamund Street in Weatherfield. He sold the magazines within the pages of the innocuous Pig Producers' Monthly and his customers continued to buy them up to the point in June 1973 when he sold up to Len Fairclough and the Kabin opened up in the same premises. Under the new management, the trade for under-the-counter materials was quickly cut off.
