Doctor Grant was part of the medical team who looked after Ray Langton following the coach crash on the way back from the residents' outing to the Lake District in November 1969. Ray had no feeling in his legs, was given a wheelchair and was told by Dr Grant that he was suffering from Transversemyelitis, which was deemed very serious. In the end, after several months including time spent at Buxton Recuperation Centre, Ray fully recovered.
