Doctor Whitaker was one of the medical team who cared for Gail Tilsley when she went into labour with Sarah Louise one month prematurely. Whitaker at first tried to delay labour but when Gail's contractions continued, Sister Coles moved her to the delivery suite where Whitaker the baby, with the assistance of Nurse Baxter and Nurse Philips. When Sarah was born, Whitaker acted quickly by having her transferred to an incubator in a special care baby unit while re-assuring Gail that there would be no resulting health problems.
