Donna worked in the cutting department at Baldwin's Casuals and was a friend of Shirley Armitage. When buyer Ralph Ward came to the factory to see a line of jump suits designed by Christine Millward, Donna and Shirley modelled them for him, Mike Baldwin having turned down an offer from Vera Duckworth to do the same. While Shirley was overcome by an attack of shyness, Donna took full advantage to show off her curves in the suit as she strutted up and down the sewing room while the machinists sang out the tune to "The Stripper". Ward subsequently placed an order with the firm.
