Doreen Sloane appeared in three roles in Coronation Street:
- Secretary Miss Wilford in November 1971
- Schoolteacher Hilary Dodds in May 1972 and July 1973
- Hospital Nurse Sankey in February 1975.
Born in Birkenhead on 24th February 1934, she trained at theatre school in Liverpool and her subsequent career was spent in repertory theatre. She appeared on radio in 1974 in a production of Saturday-Night Theatre. Minor television parts in series such as Shabby Tiger and Last of the Summer Wine followed before she became nationally known for playing Annabelle Collins in Brookside from its first episode on Channel 4's opening night in November 1982. She played the part up until her death from cancer on 8th April 1990.
