Sarah Louise Platt lost her appetite and refused to eat proper meals in February 2000 and, after several weeks of confrontation, arguments and worry, Gail Platt took her daughter to the doctors to see about her eating habits. When Sarah confessed to feeling faint on several occasions, Dr Wilson examined the thirteen-year old and informed her horrified mother that Sarah was five months pregnant. She also confirmed that she was too far into her term to have an abortion and that social services would have to be informed.
