Emma Watts (née Taylor) was a police sergeant who married Curly Watts in 2000 before giving birth to their son Ben in 2001.
During her career in the police, Emma was part of an armed response unit who stormed Freshco following a siege at the supermarket. Emma shot dead one of the perpetrators, Dean Sykes, who had taken several bystanders hostage. Later, she testified that Les Battersby had assaulted a colleague, PC Mick Hopwood, when in fact Mick had attacked Les. Her actions led to a brief split between her and Curly.
In 2003, Emma was offered a promotion to Inspector in Newcastle. She accepted the transfer, and the Wattses sold up and left Weatherfield.
