Ena shelters Sam. He tells her that he has only left his wife and that the police are after him for desertion. She gets him to see the police of his own free will. Ken is asked to attend a publishers in London about his novel. Len thinks that Ena has shopped Sam to the police. He refuses to listen to her and she realises they all blame her.
