Elsie has trouble with kids playing in the Street. Alf finds out that Joe Dawson reported The Kabin. Emily applies for the job of manageress at Dawson's Cafe and gets it. Len and Rita are furious that Dawson is opening a cafe next door as their trade will suffer. When he discovers it was Dawson who reported The Kabin, Len goes for Dawson. Dawson dodges him and threatens him with the police. Rita begs Len not to hit him knowing it'll end in jail. Rita tells Dawson that if he takes Len to court she'll finish the job. Len decides not to hit him. Elsie keeps the kids' football when it is kicked into the house. One of the kids, Jason Pearce, cheeks her so Elsie belts him round the head.
