New Year's Eve: Sheila and Doreen plan a party in the flat. Jed wants an invite but they refuse him one. Jack and Ena tell Ken that Frank has a right to his own life. Len makes the most of it when everyone thinks he is ill and treats him with kid gloves. Frank rejects Val for Christine for the evening. Nellie leaves, dragging Stanley with her. Jack, Harry, Frank, Jerry and Ivan let the New Year in at various houses. The girls relent and let Jed in at their party to celebrate the coming of 1963.
