Jim finds it hard being in civvy street. Mike visits clothing manufacturer Peter Ingram and is annoyed when Ingram is too busy to see him. The Rovers is awash with January blues with Alec moping about Sandra, Tina in the dumps after a row with Eddie, and Derek depressed at being unemployed. Sandra visits Alec and takes back what she told him before, explaining that her reaction was due to shock. She tells him he can keep in touch with them, especially Victoria who likes him. Alec is thrilled and promises not to push it. He's pleased to hear that Bet told Sandra nice things about him and makes up with her. Mike asks Ingram for any work he can take off his hands. Letting Ingram think he still has the factory, he agrees to make up some travel bags for him. Sally feels sorry for Tina and takes Jamie in so that Tina and Eddie can go to France. Tina is alarmed to find it's a football trip that they're going on. Kevin reminds Sally that they don't know anything about babies. Alma is alarmed when Mike announces his plan to make two hundred travel bags in their flat - with her doing the work.
