Gail worries about the food poisoning rumours. Alma assures her that nobody listens to Percy. Curly tells Jack he's moving out, and Jack tells Vera. The Wiltons excitedly await delivery of the topsoil. Kimberley tells Curly his room is ready for him. Vera is upset over Curly moving out. Gail rows with Ken for telling Percy that it was the cafe which upset Steve. The health officer, Mr Ellison, calls at the cafe. Derek is annoyed when his topsoil doesn't turn up. Jack begs Curly not to move out for Vera's sake. Steph starts on at Des about No.6's garden. The Duckworths are thrilled when Curly decides to stay at No.9. The Wiltons complain about the soil at the garden centre. The officer clears the cafe. Ken puts Percy straight and tells him to spread it around that the rumour wasn't true. Alma and Gail take the opportunity to clean up. A huge pile of topsoil is dumped in the Wiltons' front garden, spilling out onto the Street.
