Plot[]

Steph is proud of Des fighting for her honour and pampers him while he licks his wounds. Joss disapproves of Jack and Vera posing as an experienced chauffeur and housekeeper for their interview. Andy isn't worried about the posters but Steve thinks he should take Phil's warning more seriously. Raquel hopes the student fashion show will be her ticket away from Bettabuy. Jack calls Reg to tell him Vera has gallstones and can't go into work. Curly smells a rat when Betty tells him Jack has taken the afternoon off. In Knutsford, Mrs Maxwell-Glover interviews the Duckworths. They pocket the expenses and tell her that they work for Sir Alec and Lady Gilroy-Holdsworth. Vera feels bad for taking £30 from her as she isn't at all snooty. At a gig, Andy's official competition, Jimmy Charlton, makes a grab for him and demands the money he's taken. Phil arrives and rescues him. Betty works out that Jack has been to a job interview when he arrives for his evening shift clean-shaven. Curly gets the truth from Jack. Phil offers Andy a job with real money. Reg tells Raquel she's not allowed to appear in public other than as Miss Bettabuy. She is distraught and asks Curly to intervene. Mrs Maxwell-Glover phones the Duckworths and gives them the job but wants references from the Gilroy-Holdsworths. Vera worries that she'll send someone over if they don't get in touch as Jack gave 9 Coronation Street as a contact address.
