Plot[]
Part One: Val refuses to believe that Lucille took the money. Ken calls her naive for thinking their neighbours wouldn't steal from them. Annie's mystified by Lucille's modern music. Ken gets Lucille to confirm that she was on her own at No.9 before questioning her about the £5. She suggests someone broke in when she went upstairs. David remonstrates with Irma when she buys a coat on tick. Clara covers for Hilda at the Rovers while she's anaemic. Annie's curious as to why Ken keeps asking after Lucille. Lucille tells Ray she's been accused of stealing from the Barlows'. He gives himself away when he says that the money was in a drawer, a detail Lucille didn't mention.
Part Two: Annie starts making mushroom pattys to sell in the Rovers. Jack finds Lucille crying in her bedroom. He gives her £5 when she asks for it. Irma realises she's in no hurry to have kids when she tries to get the twins to sleep. Lucille gives the £5 to Val. Val guesses that she had a boy in but can't get her to say who it was. Ken hires Fairclough and Booth to do a job at No.9, unaware that he's dealing with the thief. Ray tells Lucille he took the money as his mother is in debt. He promises to give it back when he can and persuades her to keep on seeing him. Val tells Ken the money is back but doesn't elaborate. She begs him to let sleeping dogs lie. When he refuses to drop it, she rows with him for being distant with her, saying she doesn't know who he is anymore. While Ken is at the Rovers, Val packs and leaves the house with the twins.
