Jack forgets to send his holiday booking to the hotel but gets Billy to send it behind Annie's back. David's workmates give him a travelling clock as a farewell present. Ida is upset as David starts to pack. She discovers the Australia brochure in Ken's case and breaks down. Doreen tells Florrie that she's fed up of a groping foreman, Harold Pilkington, at Elliston's Raincoat Factory. Brian has tea with Esther and Tom. Brian tells Tom he's driving Esther to a nervous breakdown. Tom refuses to settle down and decides to move on. Ken tells his parents the Australia papers were for a friend. Billy tells David his boss's son is opening a garage in Chiswick and he wants to join him in moving south.
