Steve and Michelle celebrate their engagement with drinks in the Rovers. Tony tells Kevin that he's looked at the deeds for the garage and accuses Kevin of using land belonging to Underworld. Kevin's furious. Rita calls in the factory and tells Tony he's putting her in an awkward position by falling out with Kevin. Tony tries to placate her by offering her a good deal on one of the new apartments in Victoria Court and offers to show her round. Ken admits to Deirdre and Blanche that his university reunion made him realise that life's too short to spend it wiping down tables in a cafe. Rita's impressed with the apartment. Tony asks her to put in a good word for him with Kevin. Lloyd pays Michelle a visit. He tells her how he lied to her and that Steve has no intention of proposing to her and that it was a joke on his part. Michelle's shocked and hurt and tells Lloyd that Steve's just asked her to marry him. Molly tells Jack and Tyrone how Dev pointed out that she's not married. Jack takes this as a hint and nudges Tyrone. Michelle's distraught knowing Steve only proposed because he felt forced into it by Lloyd. Steve's on cloud nine and totally oblivious.
