Plot[]

Part One: Tracy tells the courtroom that Gail admitted to following Joe down to the jetty with the rolling pin and smashing him over the head with it. Gail's apoplectic and the judge has to intervene to quieten her. Carla refuses Trevor's suggestion to take the afternoon off as she has to work. A furious Dev finds out that there's a delay in getting the old furniture out of No.7. Sunita sends him back to get him out of the way while she waits in with the twins. Mr Hughes suggests that Tracy made up the story of Gail's confession and brings up her past conviction for murder. Carla's working alone in the factory when the police arrive and inform her of Tony's escape. Tracy gives a convincing performance as she vehemently denies lying. Deirdre believes her. Carla's alarmed by the news of the escape and summons Trevor to her side. Sunita is startled to find Tony lurking in her yard. Oblivious to his identity, she hears how he's just been mugged in the ginnel. As he feigns illness, she invites him inside to rest.

Part Two: Tina sets off for the court with Jason and Eileen in tow for support. David sees her and begs her not to betray Gail but Graeme leads him away. The police call on Roy and advise him to stay alert while Tony is at large. The pathologist takes to the witness box and admits that Joe's head injury could equally have been caused by the boom of the boat as much as a rolling pin. Sunita innocently chats to Tony about Maria moving away to Ireland because of her murderer boyfriend. Tina tells the jury how Gail always forgave Joe and was desperate to hang on to him. She declares that an innocent woman wouldn't have sent a text from a missing person. Claire tells Dev about Tony's escape. He puts two and two together and dashes home to check on his family and is horrified to find that Tony has been there but has slipped away. He phones the police. Sunita's shocked. Mr Hughes points out to Tina that Joe never gave her a thought when concocting his plan. She's stung and begins to cry. Carla shelters in the Rovers with Trevor and Michelle. The day court over, the Platts think that Anka's evidence will be crucial. Gail blames herself for Joe being dead and Lyn has to reassure her. Carla sees the police with Dev and learns of Tony's visit. She starts to panic.
