Plot

Peter and Leanne move back into the flat. Claire is released on bail. Fiz is on a high from holding Hope but John's mind is still on Joy. Deirdre is stunned at Claire's confession but leaves the Rovers in tears when everyone congratulates Claire for giving Tracy her just desserts. Peter eagerly helps out at the bookies but gets annoyed when Leanne thinks he's pushing himself too far. He accuses her of humiliating him in front of his customers and treating him like a cripple. They row and he makes her leave. Tracy changes her statement to the police, identifying Claire as the attacker. She blames her error on a concussion. Nick continues to pressure Leanne and she can't bear being around him. Claire tells everyone to stop congratulating her as she's ashamed of herself. John tries to get into Joy's house but is caught by Clifford, a neighbour. Peter collapses while trying to fend for himself but is rescued by Leanne. He apologizes and begs her never to leave him. John claims to be a delivery man and tries to leave but Clifford is a determined man and breaks into the house. On discovering Joy's lifeless body, Clifford phones for an ambulance. John clears away any evidence that he was there the day before, putting the uneaten food in his pockets. Becky and Steve warn Claire that she will probably be sent to prison. They urge her to do a runner to France with a fake passport. Claire can't believe they're serious.
