Plot
Edit
Katy is having terrible morning sickness and thinks her exams will suffer. Anna sees her in the cafe and thinks she's hard up. Tracy is worried as Amy has been sick again. Tyrone lets Tommy use his car to give Sian lessons. Rita tells Ken that she is sure she saw Dennis Tanner in the Street last night - Sophie tells her that he is a regular at the shelter. Chesney tells Gary that he doesn't like John. Rita helps out at the kitchen while waiting for Dennis to show up, but he runs off again when she identifies him. Tommy and Sian enjoy their lesson until Tommy leans in for a kiss. Sian is angry that Tommy obviously set this up to be alone with her and leaves. An emotional Katy confides in Anna that she is pregnant and thinks there's something wrong with the baby. Rita is pleased when Dennis waits behind to see her, and the two reminisce about the old days. Rita asks about Elsie. Dennis informs her that she died in a road accident in 2004 after twenty happy years with Bill Gregory. Sian tells Sophie about Tommy trying it on. The factory staff plan a night out but Marcus shows up at the Rovers, surprising Sean. Chesney goes to see the Hoyles and tells them he's Colin Fishwick's brother.

Notes
Edit
- Dennis's account of Elsie's death is the first reference to the character's fate in the show proper. However this contradicts the spin-off video The Life and Loves of Elsie Tanner - released in 1987 as a tribute to the recently deceased Patricia Phoenix - which makes several references to Elsie's death.
- Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast: 8,180,000 viewers (11th place).
Notable dialogue
Edit
Rita Sullivan (raising her cup of tea): "To Elsie."
Dennis Tanner: "They don't make 'em like that anymore."
